Pokemon Platinum introduced many changes as compared to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Let's see what these are:

1. Wi-Fi Plaza is added to the Wi-Fi area which adds more value to it. At a time up to twenty people can be there. Mini games are the focus of this new area. The games included are Wobbuffet Pop, Mime Jr. Top and Swalot Plop. In Wobbuffet Pop, you need to hit a Wobbuffet, in Mime Jr. Top, there is a ball and you need to balance Mime Jr. on it and last one is Swalot Plop, in which there is a Swalot machine and you need to throw berries at it.

2. In Jubilife City, the player first meets Looker and a new Key Item which is called the Vs. Recorder was given by Looker to the player. With the help of it, players can record battles and share the records with other players. Moreover, you can also take and share pictures of your PC boxes with other players.

3. Players can now be informed of completed trades thanks to the addition of an e-mail system in the Global Trade System. Players can use PC, mobile phone, or Wii system to view the notification messages sent to their email account.

> The system has only Wii messaging feature in versions other then Japanese. Thus, message board of Wii is use to view and sent notification messages in these versions.

4. Expanded Amity Square now allowed the Sinnoh starters and their evolutions. Thus this makes the total number of Pokemon allowed in the Square to 20.

5. A new feature with the name Spin Trade is introduced in the Pokemon Platinum over local wireless. Thanks to it, Players and their friends can put their Pokemon Eggs in and swap randomly.

6. If you think that you can find HM05 (Defog) at the Great Marsh then you are wrong in your thinking because you will now find it at the Solaceon Ruins.

7. It is the Lost Tower where you receives HM04 (Strength) from Riley in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl but in Pokemon Platinum, you can receive that in the Iron Island .

8. You can now access hidden area of Wayward Cave without strength.

9. In certain Pokémon Centers, challenging other Trainers is now possible. If you want to know the location of the Trainers then they are in front of the desk but keep that in mind that they change locations every day.

10. During Trainer battle, there is a message "Will change Pokémon?" and you will see this message in all games up to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Now in Pokemon Platinum this message is changed to "Will you switch your Pokémon?" and you will see this change in all future core series games.

11. You may notice one change and that is the addition of three new Move Tutors while retaining the Move Tutors in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. The locations of these newly added Move Tutors are in Snowpoint City, on Route 212 and in the Survival Area.

12. You will also find that Hypnosis's accuracy was changed back to 60.

13. With some other features especially during battles and while surfing, you will realize that the game speed is faster as compared to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. May be you are thinking that is because of higher frame rate used by the Pokemon Platinum then for your information the frame rate remains at 30 frames per second. 14. May be you like this change which is added by the developers and the change is that now via Wi-Fi you can make poffins with other players.

15. Two new men are added and with the help of one man you will know the type of Hidden Power of your Pokemon and the other man can judge the Individual values of your Pokemon.

16. You will be happy to know that you can buy the Accessories at Pick a Peck of Colors Flower Shop at a lower price now.

17. You will not find any slot machines in the European versions of the Pokemon Platinum because slot machines are replaced with game machines.

18. In Pokemon Diamond and Pearl if you want to ride a bicycle in gatehouses which separates cities, towns and routes then it is not possible but in Pokemon Platinum and in Generations II and III Pokemon games it is possible.

19. The time taken to use another radar signal while in the underground is now two seconds as compared to one in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.

20. Don't lose your energy in finding the Lustrous and Adamant Orbs on the Spear Pillar in Pokemon Platinum because they are no longer there. You can now find these Orbs in a cave somewhere in the Mt. Coronet's snowfields. In order to catch Dialga and Palkia, you must have obtained items in that cave and must have a encounter with Giratina. Catching Giratina is not compulsory but facing is.

21. Entering the Hall of Fame after the defeating of a stationary in-game event Pokémon by the player leads to its reappearance. Re-triggering of the event by the player after the player defeats a roaming Pokémon leads to the reappearance of that roaming Pokemon. Fleeing from or defeating of the Origin Forme Giratina in the Distortion World leads to its reappearance in Turnback Cave in its Altered Forme.

22. Now ready to hear the bad news and that is the increasing of Pokemon levels of most opponents by at least one. For example, at Pastoria City, the level of starter Pokemon use by the Barry in the battle is 28. This level is increased to 36 in Pokemon Platinum by the developers of the game.

23. In Pokemon Platinum, you may notice that certain unevolved Pokemon can be found at some locations, their levels are similar to the rest of the Pokemon in the area but in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl the levels are different as compared to Pokemon Platinum.

24. Another change is that all the Gyms now only have Pokémon of their type specialty.
