While capturing, battling, and evolving of Pokemon are same like that of Pokémon Red and Blue, developers came up with new features for Pokemon Gold and Silver. To increase the players engagement with the game, new types of legendary Pokémon named Raikou, Entei, and Suicune are introduced. Catching them is difficult because they always attempt to flee but if they have low HP due to fight it will retain. Players can also track them but it is only possible after an encounter with them. Encountering very rare shiny Pokemon is also possible now. Players interest is further increased with the addition of Steel-type and Dark-type Pokemon. Steel-type Pokemon features included are resistance to other types and protection to Poison-type moves while the Dark-type Pokemon are effective against Psychic-type Pokemon and have protection against Psychic-type moves while they also have few weaknesses. Pokemon are now given one or more breeding groups and thanks to this new freature players can now hatch a young Pokemon with help from Pokemon DayCare. This newly hatched young Pokemon has his father moves and his mother species.
